Today is an exciting day for me! It is the publication date of Make Modern’s 26th issue and my newest pattern, “Chain Drive” is featured in this edition.
“Chain Drive’ has the appearance of an intricate and difficult pattern, but in reality it’s actually super easy to do! It uses a traditional motif that has been altered to offer contemporary appeal. I am so proud and happy to see my design in print, and it is even more gratifying to know that others may see it, be inspired and then have the instructions to recreate their own gorgeous version of this quilt.
For the sample quilt featured, I used fabric from the “Welcome to My World” collection by RJR Fabrics and a selection from the deeply pigmented “Zuzu’s Petals” collection from Frond Fabric Design Studios. I’m not a spokesman for either manufacturer, I just love their fabrics! My friend Elizabeth Vaculik of Libby’s Quilting Creations did the long-arm quilting using a Bauhaus design called Urban Elementz, which I think perfectly highlighted both the fabric and the design.
Your fabric and quilting choices choices might be completely different, and it would thrill me to see how you’ve interpreted this pattern. Please share your photos here or email them directly to me at glendawilderdesigns@gmail.com.
I can’t wait to see what we can make together!
