What are you doing to feed your creative muse during this holiday season?
The house is decorated, the calendar is filling up with holiday social events and the gifts are almost selected, wrapped and ready. Time is at a premium during the holidays and it’s easy to put sewing and designing on the back burner. But what I learn every time (because it’s happened before and will probably happen again) is that making the time to exercise my creative muscle is an important part of staying in touch with who I really am. That awareness allows me to show up authentically to every other place I choose to be and that is good for everyone. Being creative is one form of self-care and a healthy me can enjoy the season more fully if I feed my creative muse.
How do you care for yourself and your creativity when there’s so much going on?
I’d love to hear your thoughts…
You are so right! It’s so important to fit in your day something you are passionate about. We get so busy getting everything taken care of, and often we are too tired to reward ourselves. It could be as little as just sewing some binding on a quilt as you watch tv to satisfy you. It’s still important to make time for us.
I am making some paper-piecing Christmas pot holders for gifts. It lets me sew on the machine as well as do handwork as I watch some tv programs.
