“Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home…”
With a nod to this and every other song, cinematic tableau (“Hello, Dorothy!”) and heartfelt expression of having arrived in the place we know we belong, I’ll simply say that I agree with the sentiment!
I spent this week on the road and am thankful for the people I was able to visit and the time in the car when I could think deep thoughts or sing unabashedly. I certainly enjoyed the beautiful scenery driving to and from my destination (it is spring wildflower time in Texas, after all!) Yet I am equally thankful to arrive home and put my feet up, cook a healthy supper and yes, curl up in a favorite cozy quilt. There just isn’t anything like being in my own comfy “nest.”
What makes your home special? Do you have any rituals or routines that just cannot be duplicated outside of your home space or have you figured out how to make home wherever you are at? I’d love to hear your stories!
